Job Summary

Rahee Natural Seeds Pvt. Ltd., India's first fully traceable onion seed brand, is looking for an experienced and energetic Agronomist. This person will need good knowledge of onion seed production and bulb care, strong digital communication skills, and the ability to manage detailed production data. The Agronomist will be the technical expert of the company, responsible for making sure the crop quality is excellent on all farms, leading research and development advice, and explaining complex farming science in easy-to-understand, local languages for farmers.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Master’s degree in Agriculture with Minimum 3 to 4 years of practical experience in Agronomy, specifically focused on onion seed and bulb production.
  • Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of onion crop management, including soil health, fertilizer management, Disease & Pest identification and management (fungicide, insecticide), PGRs, Bio-Pesticides, and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
  • Adaptability: Proven capacity to adopt new market trends, embrace diverse crop management techniques, and deliver properly reasoned and budget-friendly solutions for field challenges.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, with comfort and proficiency in on-camera video production (must possess a quality face camera).
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to create technical and educational content in Hindi, Marathi, and English.

Key Responsibilities:

The role is structured across three core pillars: Technical Excellence, Process Management, and Digital Outreach.

I. Technical Excellence & Advisory

  1. Field Plot Management: Take 100% ownership and provide day-to-day technical advice and management for:
  • Company-owned Research Work Plots and Seed Production Plots (ensuring quality and yield goals).
  • External Farmer Bulb Production Plots (guiding growers for high-quality onion production).

  1. Solution-Oriented Advice: Deliver timely, farmer-friendly, and cost-effective solutions for crop management, disease, and pest control challenges observed in all plots.
  2. Comprehensive Guidance (Bulb to Seed): Provide efficient guidance and advice for the entire seed production cycle, including land preparation, bulb treatment, plantation, crop protection, nutrition, and management of flower setting and pollination (including attracting pollinators like honeybees).
  3. Addressing Specific Challenges: Provide expert diagnosis and mitigation strategies for critical onion production issues, specifically:

  • Bulb Rotting: Addressing critical issues during seed production.
  • Abnormal Formations: Solving challenges related to bolting, twin bulb formation, and thick neck development.
  • Quality Issues: Diagnosing and developing preventative measures for Blackening in Onions (कोंजळी) and strategies to reduce pungency while enhancing sugar content.

  1. Advisory Ownership: Provide 100% technical advice and on-demand guidance for company-owned R&D Plots, Seed Production Plots, and external Farmer Bulb Production Plots.
  2. Technical Writing: Develop comprehensive literature and guides on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), covering crucial inputs like soil management, fertilizer schedules, fungicide, insecticide, PGR, and bio-pesticides.

II. Production & Process Management

  1. SOP Development & Staff Training: Create and formalize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the entire onion seed production lifecycle, from planting to harvesting. Responsible for training staff on these SOPs.
  2. Digital Data Management: Conduct regular field visits to production plots and farmer fields. Accurately maintain and update all visiting data within the company's designated software application.
  3. Software Maintenance (Long-Term): Be the key custodian for the production software, ensuring accurate data maintenance for the entire seed production cycle—from bulb selection up through Statement 1 and Statement 2 documentation.

III. Digital Content & Farmer Education

  1. Video Course Creation: Conceptualize, script, and film detailed educational video courses on onion bulb production in multiple languages (Hindi, Marathi, English) for farmer training and capacity building.
  2. Social Media Content: Produce short, engaging onion plot videos (shorts) suitable for social media platforms, showcasing best practices, crop health, and Rahee Seeds' technology.
  3. Public Face: Utilize the personal quality face camera to be the official technical face of Rahee Natural Seeds, building trust and engagement with the farming community through video content.

Salary:

Attractive salary and other benefits offered to the right candidates with a minimum starting salary of ₹30,000/-.

Facility:

Traveling allowance should be paid separately & Accomodation will be provided by the company
